Welcome to our next YOGA INTENSIVE that is here to lift you from complacency and charge you with a vibrant and consistent dedication to daily self-care.
Each class is 45 minutes in duration.
WEEK ONE
For our first intensive the usual Ashtanga sequence will be trimmed, condensed and modified. At the beginning of each class we will attend to ourselves through the wisdom of the yoga sutras by Patanjali. YAMA is the guidance for the first intensive. YAMA is the word for ethical codes and represents the first limb of the 'the eight limbs of yoga'. The ancient wisdom of YAMA provides easy to grasp guidelines for decision making and actions that not only allow us to consider our self-interest but also set a context for understanding the impact that our choices and behaviour may have on others.
The YAMA splinters off to a further five aspects. Each day you will be guided with this wisdom and be offered an affirmation to support your relationship to it. Inner health is often restored when we honour the need to recognise and verify our truth.
WEEK TWO
For the second intensive we will focus on breathing and meditation. You will be encouraged to practice the movements before each session commences, thus maintaining the discipline from the previous week. NIYAMA is the guidance for the second week and represents the second limb of the eight limbs of yoga. The second limb focuses on improving our personal care through observation and implementing changes in our lives that can transform our mental health and contribute to positive actions.
Each day you will be guided with this wisdom and be offered an affirmation to support your relationship to it. This will continue to support and strengthen your values. Meditation is a beautiful way to study who you are from your heart and less from your head.
BONUS
As an added OPTIONAL bonus to your daily self-care program you may want to consider a three day juice fast. You can pace your fast according to your lifestyle and personal needs. Juice fasting is a powerful purification, detoxification and reset for both your body and mind and perfectly compliments yoga practice.
Options to consider:
1. Give the juice fasting a miss this time.
2. Do only one day of fasting instead of three.
3. Instead of doing three days in a row, you can split your days over the six day intensive.
4. Fast for half the day and eat food for the other half (albeit, light food)
5. If there is any concern, seek guidance from your health care provider before undertaking the juice fast.
